The Mike Earll Collection
Scratch built perfection in 1/1200 scale

I
I've included this page for two reasons - one is as a tribute to the skill of Mike Earll - a ship modeller who passed away recently, and also to help his pal Jim Prentice sell the collection of 1/1200 ship models on behalf of his widow. Jim is a thoroughly nice guy, and approached me after visiting this website. I took one look at the ships and was hooked. So far I've bought half a dozen models from the collection, and I've earmarked half a dozen more.
So far Jim has only scratched the surface of Mike's collection, which runs to hundreds of ship models. These superb models are all up for sale over the next few months, as Jim ploughs his way through the boxes and sorts them out. they range from Pre-Dreadnoughts (my particular favourite) through the First World War to the Second World War and beyond. Jim is selling them for anything from £6 to £20 a model (excluding shipping), and given that these are hand-made and really beautiful, then I'm sure they'll all eventually find a good home.
The only problem is shipment - Jim lives in Motherwell (in Central Scotland), and these are fragile little beauties. As I live in Edinburgh this isn't really a problem, but for others it may prove a real challenge. I'll happily act as a collection point at wargame shows, but otherwise you best sort out the details with Jim himself.
Here is a selection of the latest batch of ships Jim has unearthed, and which are now offered for sale:
